Liaison and Development Manager, Zimbabwe

Power Mupunga serves as Liaison and Development Manager for Akashinga in Zimbabwe and is currently acting as Interim Reserve General Manager at our Phundundu camp in Zimbabwe. With over 25 years of experience in wildlife conservation and law enforcement, Power is a seasoned leader in protected area management, conservation strategy, and ranger development.

A former Senior Area Manager with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, Power rose through the ranks to oversee some of the country’s most significant conservation landscapes, including Gonarezhou, Hwange, and Victoria Falls/Zambezi National Parks. He played a central role in developing standard operating procedures and building high-performing law enforcement ranger teams across multiple regions.

Prior to joining Akashinga, Power served as Head Professional Guide for African Bush Camps, where he trained guides in conservation ethics and wildlife protection. He holds a Diploma in Wildlife Management, a BSc in Natural Resources Management, and an MSc in Strategic Management. He has also participated in international conservation courses across Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, and China.

Power is a long-serving member of the Zimbabwe Professional Guides examining body and is widely respected for his deep field knowledge, integrity, and leadership. He continues to provide technical guidance and strategic insight to conservation partners across the region.
